Tammy's Big Fights
Tammy knows that raising a family is getting more and more expensive. Right now, Tammy is leading the federal fight to solve the national child care and housing crises to help Wisconsin families, balance it all and get ahead.
Tammy believes that every worker deserves access to a good job that pays the bills. That’s why way before Donald Trump or anyone else in Washington was talking about making things in America, Tammy led the coalition to bring manufacturing jobs home to the United States and to Wisconsin through her Buy America rules. Recently, Tammy’s Buy America rules have been included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) – creating 200 new jobs at Sanmina Corporation in Pleasant Prairie – and this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which is bringing over $2 billion dollars to American shipbuilders like Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, meaning more good paying Wisconsin jobs.
For Tammy, health care is personal. When Tammy was nine, she came down with a serious illness and was labeled as a child with a “pre-existing condition.” Her grandparents couldn’t find her any insurance, at any price. Tammy took these lessons to heart and championed the reforms in the Affordable Care Act to allow kids to stay on their parents’ insurance plans until they are 26 years old and make sure no one is denied care because of a pre-existing condition. And right now, there are a record breaking amount of Wisconsinites enrolled in health care coverage through the ACA.
This term, Tammy and Wisconsin Democrats helped pass our historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Two years after the passing of this historic legislation, Wisconsin has received over $5.6 billion to kickstart over 300 new infrastructure projects. Some of these projects include repairs to Wisconsin’s major airports, lead pipe replacements, power grid enhancements, improvements to our roads, bridges, and waterways, cleaning up legacy pollution in our Great Lakes, and statewide broadband expansion.
In 2022, Tammy took on the drug industry and helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act, finally giving Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices and capping insulin costs at $35 a month for our seniors. Recently, the Biden-Harris administration announced the first ten drugs that were selected for the Medicare price negotiation. Not only did Tammy support the IRA, but she was proud to direct the Biden-Harris administration to select prescription drugs that were most expensive for Wisconsin seniors.
For too long Big Pharma and their CEOs have been lining their pockets at the expense of hard working families with no oversight or accountability making it harder for families to get the health care they need. Right now, Tammy is spearheading federal efforts to hold Big Pharma accountable for their price gouging. Through bipartisan legislation, Tammy is working to increase prescription drug pricing transparency, and this year she launched an investigation into the four largest manufacturers of inhalers to determine why they're selling inhalers in the U.S. for hundreds of dollars more than in other countries.
In 2024, the stakes are going to be higher than ever and it's all going to come down to Wisconsin in the fight for our freedoms. Right now, Tammy is determined to stand up to the right wing extremism coming for our freedom to vote and to make our own health care decisions.
Restoring the Right to Choose
When Roe v. Wade was overturned, Wisconsin reverted back to a near-total abortion ban that was passed into law in 1849 – 70 years before women could even vote. Alongside women from across Wisconsin, Tammy is fighting to restore our rights and freedoms and ensure no politician or judge can stand in between a woman and getting the healthcare she needs. Tammy's bill, the Women's Health Protection Act, is the legislation that will codify Roe and restore access to abortion for Wisconsin women, so no politician or activist court can take away our freedoms again.
Voting Rights
Voting rights are the foundation of America's democracy, but time and again we've seen attempts to suppress the vote, gerrymander district lines, and prevent communities from having a say. Tammy is working to pass legislation that will stop right wing voter suppression efforts and remove barriers to the constitutionally protected right to vote.
Wisconsinites deserve safe communities to live and raise their families in, plain and simple. In the Senate, Tammy has been an advocate for public safety and a defender of keeping crime out of our communities, which is why she voted for the largest increase in police funding in history. On top of that, she has brought home funds to hire and retain 187 police officers in Wisconsin, including 50 to address crime in the City of Milwaukee. And just last year alone, Tammy secured $90 million for statewide public safety efforts including innovative crime prevention training and technology for our police departments, crime victim support services, and community resources to address the root causes of crime and reduce dangerous cycles of recidivism.
In Wisconsin, the opioid, fentanyl, and heroin epidemic has claimed too many lives, affected countless families, and devastated entire communities. To fight this crisis, Tammy has passed historic bipartisan legislation that increases access to overdose reversing drugs like naloxone and secures millions of dollars to Wisconsin health departments for epidemic response strategies. She's also worked to ensure our medical professionals and first responders have the adequate information to treat overdoses and recognize signs of addiction. Right now, Tammy is working to pass a bipartisan package to stop fentanyl from coming into the U.S. at the southern border.
Tammy knows that Wisconsin's farmers are the economic backbone of our state and is working hard to protect our world-class agricultural industries. Right now, Tammy is working to pass her DAIRY PRIDE Act, which would put a stop to the unfair mislabeling of non-dairy plant-based goods, and defend our dairy farmers and producers who work hard to ensure their milk meets high standards. And in this year's Farm Bill, she is working to bolster legislation she's previously championed including the Farmland Security Act, which increases transparency and cracks down on foreign investments in American farmlands, and the Dairy Business Innovation Act, which gives grants to dozens of Wisconsin's dairy businesses to help them diversify their businesses, expand dairy production, and create jobs.
Tammy knows that Wisconsin has the best workers in the world who can make anything, from paper, engines, tools, and ships to beer, brats, and cheese. However, our workers have faced uphill battles as they fight for good paying jobs and against the outsourcing and unfair trade deals from countries like China. That's why Tammy is working across the aisle to pass multiple pieces of legislation that provide economic relief for communities negatively impacted by harmful foreign trade deals, close dangerous trade loopholes that allow China and other countries to import counterfeit and cheap products along with illicit drugs like fentanyl, strengthen country of origin labeling laws, and ensure American taxpayer-funded technologies are manufactured right here in the U.S., not China.
Tammy is committed to creating opportunities for the next generation of Wisconsinites because she knows that they are the future of our state and our country.
Expanding Education Opportunities
Tammy believes that if a Wisconsinite wants to attend college, they should have the opportunity to do so. Last year, Tammy reintroduced her America's College Promise Act, which waives tuition and fees for two years of community and technical college. She's also working to strengthen federal programs to support first-generation, low income students that are seeking higher education.
Strengthening Job Training Programs
Everyone should have access to a good paying job, whether they went to college or not. That's why Tammy is working across the aisle to pass her landmark job training legislation that would scale up Wisconsin's apprenticeship programs and provide more people with the skills they need to succeed.

About Vice President Kamala Harris
Vice President Harris is fighting for a New Way Forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead. As a prosecutor, Attorney General, Senator, and now Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris always stood up for the people against predators, scammers, and powerful interests. She promises to be a president for all Americans, a president who unites us around our highest aspirations, and a president who always fights for the American people. From the courthouse to the White House, that has been her life’s work.
About Governor Tim Walz
Governor Walz is a lifelong Midwesterner who has delivered for the middle class: he signed the largest tax cut in state history, lowered the cost of prescription drugs, and has stood up for reproductive freedoms. Just like Vice President Harris, he will never stop fighting for working families.
Issues
Core Values
Vice President Harris
Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for a new way forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead. Harris grew up in a middle-class home as the daughter of a working mom. She believes that when the middle class is strong, America is strong. As President, she will create an Opportunity Economy where everyone has a chance to compete and a chance to succeed with hard work and ambition.
Contrast with Trump's Project 2025
Donald Trump is a convicted criminal running to enact his extreme and dangerous Project 2025 agenda that would roll back Americans' rights and freedoms, hurt the middle class, and threaten our democracy. He will purge the government of anyone not sufficiently loyal and replace them with MAGA loyalists who will empower him to rule as a dictator on "day one." Those who worked closest with Trump warn he should not be president again.
Abortion
Vice President Harris
Vice President Harris trusts women to make decisions about their own bodies, and not have the government tell them what to do. Since Roe was overturned, Harris has driven the Administration's strategy to protect reproductive freedom and safeguard the privacy of patients and providers. As president, she will never allow a national abortion ban to become law. And when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom nationwide, she will sign it.
Contrast with Trump's Project 2025
Donald Trump Trump brags that he is "proudly the person responsible" for overturning Roe and has said that women who get an abortion should be punished. He will use his Project 2025 agenda to ban abortion nationwide, restrict access to contraception and IVF, and force states to report on women's miscarriages and abortions.
Social Security and Medicare
Vice President Harris
Vice President Harris will protect Social Security and Medicare against relentless attacks from Donald Trump and his extreme allies. She will strengthen Social Security and Medicare for the long haul by making millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share in taxes and will always fight to ensure that Americans who have paid into these programs their entire lives can count on getting the benefits they earned.
Contrast with Trump's Project 2025
Donald Trump proposed cuts to Social Security and Medicare in every one of his budgets as President. Now, he wants to gut the programs if he wins while giving tax handouts to his super-rich friends. He's called for privatizing Social Security, which he once called a "Ponzi scheme."
Economy
Vice President Harris
Vice President Harris grew up in a middle-class home as the daughter of a working mom. She believes that when the middle class is strong, America is strong. That's why as president, she will create an Opportunity Economy where everyone with hard work and ambition has a chance to compete and a chance to succeed. And she has made clear that building up the middle class will be a defining goal of her presidency – that's why she will make it a top priority to bring down costs of everyday needs like health care, housing, and groceries and increase economic security for all Americans. She will bring together organized labor and workers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and American companies to create good-paying jobs, grow the economy, and ensure that America continues to lead the world.
Contrast with Trump's Project 2025
Trump's first presidency cost the country millions of jobs, left us on the brink of a recession, and gave massive handouts to billionaires and big corporations. A second term would be worse. His Project 2025 agenda will jack up prices and weaken the middle class. He wants to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations, raise taxes on working families by $3,900 a year through tariffs, cut Social Security and Medicare, end the Affordable Care Act, and repeal limits on drug prices. Independent experts agree: Trump's plan would trigger a recession by mid-2025, cost America over 3 million jobs, increase the debt by $4 trillion, send inflation skyrocketing, and hurt everyone but the richest Americans.
Tax Fairness
Vice President Harris
Vice President Harris believes that working families deserve a break. That's why under her plan more than 100 million working and middle-class Americans will get a tax cut. She will ensure no family earning under $400,000 per year pays a penny more in taxes. She will make sure the wealthiest Americans and the largest corporations pay their fair share, so we can take action to build up the middle class while reducing the deficit.
Contrast with Trump's Project 2025
Donald Trump believes the tax code should work for himself and his billionaire donors. He's promising another Billionaire Tax Break that would give a yearly $3.5 million handout per billionaire, a $1.5 trillion windfall for big corporations, and make it easier for wealthy tax cheats to avoid paying what they owe at the expense of working families. And experts agree: his Project 2025 Agenda would raise taxes on middle-class families by more than $3,900 a year.
Healthcare
Vice President Harris
Vice President Harris will make affordable health care a right, not a privilege by expanding and strengthening the ACA and making the tax credits that are lowering premiums by about $800/year for millions of Americans permanent. She'll extend the $35 cap on insulin and $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket spending for seniors to all Americans. And she'll accelerate Medicare negotiations to cover more drugs and lower prices for Americans. As vice president, she helped cancel $7 billion of medical debt for 3 million Americans and as president, she'll work with states to cancel medical debt for even more Americans.
Contrast with Trump's Project 2025
Donald Trump Trump was one vote away from repealing the ACA in his first term. Now, he has promised to "terminate" the ACA if reelected, ending protections for millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions. He will gut Medicare and repeal limits on drug prices to enrich his friends in Big Pharma.
